Cosmetic Contact Lenses for Halloween are Scary
Every year in BC people dress up and use coloured contact lenses as part of their costumes. Wearing contact lenses that have not been fitted by a licensed optician, optometrist or ophthalmologist is downright dangerous. Many of the cosmetic contact lenses ordered over the internet aren’t licensed for use in Canada.
Documented eye problems from cosmetic contact lenses include allergic reactions, corneal scratches, corneal infections and even blindness. A simple visit to a health care professional lets you have the costume you want AND your eyesight. All treats, no tricks.
There is legislation pending to prevent the unregulated sale of cosmetic contact lenses but it won’t be in place in time to keep you and your loved ones safe this Halloween so please spread the word!
